What do you get when you combine the premier open mobile operating system with the premier church data managemnt software? You get Fellowship One for Android of course!
Funkypants Software is proud to announce the availability of Fellowship One for Android in the Android Market.
Fellowship One for Android gives you the power of Fellowship One on your mobile Android device. You can search your Fellowship One database to find phone numbers, email addresses as well as household information and more for all members of your church community. Church staff will have access to pertinent data allowing them to effectively minister on the go or wherever they might be. You can call, text, email and even map to an address right from your mobile Android device. Android version 1.5 through version 2.1 are supported.
Setup
In order for Fellowship One for Android to be used by your church it will need to be authorized to have access to your church data as a 3rd party app. Have your F1 Administrator enable Fellowship One for Android in the Admin -> Applications section of the Portal. Fellowship One for Android will be listed under 3rd party Applications. Once it is enabled all linked portal users for the church will be able to use the application on their Android device.
People Search
Fellowship One for Android is all about people. You will find the same powerful searching capabilities from Fellowship One in Fellowship One for Android. To initiate a search you can press the Search button on your device or, if you device does not have a dedicated Search button, press the Menu button and then press Search. You can search on any combination of first, last and “goes by” name as well as partial name searches. All results are returned with name, avatar (if available for the user), as well as status to help identify the exact user you are looking for. Results come back in groups of 20 items and use compression algorithms in order to reduce the amount of data transfer, keeping the applicaion speedy no matter the network latency.
Details, Details
After you find the individual you are looking for, click their name to see the details. Here you can see (if the data exists in Portal):
- Email address (one or many)
- Phone number (one or many)
- Primary address for the household
- Status
- Gender
- Birthday
- Marital status
- Occupation
- School
You can perform actions on any row that has an icon. For instance, if you click on the “Call home phone” row a call will be placed to the home phone number. If you click on the SMS messsage icon for that row, an SMS message will be opened that will allow you to compose an SMS message. Clicking on any email row will open an email message that will allow you to compose an email. And last but not least, the primary address row will open Google Maps (if installed on the device) to map the address allowing you to get directions and more.
View Household
From the details screen you can also view the other members of the household for the selected individual. Press the menu button on your phone and then press the View Household option. The results page will show you all individuals associated with the selected individual, sorted by household position. To return to the initial results page click the back button twice.
Support
If you have any issues with Fellowship One for Android please send an email to support@funkypantssoftware.com with as much detail as possible (including church code) and we will respond as soon as possible.
